Over the last couple of years, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has actually invited some regional AvGeeks, who like sharing their airline company passion online, to a special celebration. Most of us meet up airside and obtain a review of the day, undergo protection, after that load right into a couple of vans and head out to the landing field, all under companion from airport ops. That part alone is rather amusing and enjoyable, but it improves from there.
BENEFIT: Our SEA AvGeeks Landing Strip Day Photos from 2003
We reached spend a little bit over 4 hours in between paths 16 L/ 34 R and 16 C/ 34 C, and it was outstanding. I simply brought my iPhone to share pictures on our social media sites , yet the good news is our Francis Zera existed too; he takes way far better pictures than me. It is just an absolutely different experience to be so near the airplane when they taxi, launch, and land.
It felt like you can connect and touch the winglets of the vast bodies as they taxied cab by (I really did not attempt). We did obtain numerous baffled looks by trip crew, complied with by many smiles and waves. Naturally the recurring joke throughout the day (a minimum of it was amusing to me) was calling out when an Alaska Boeing 737 or Embraer E- 175 was removing– there were great deals and lots of those!
Out of all the planes seen that day, the one that thrilled me the most was the FedEx MD- 11 Such a timeless. Such a charm! The second was an Alaska Air E- 175 (allow me finish …) with the unique Horizon Air livery. As an’ 80 s youngster, it brought back memories of flying on Horizon’s Dash- 8 – 100 s , Metroliners , Fokker F 27 s , and Fokker F 28 s
This year for sure did not let down. Look into all the added pictures listed below!
